Contemplating Corvine Mixed Media

Cackling Corvine Mixed Media Acrylic Art on stretched canvas.

I named my artwork ‘Contemplating Corvine’, and created it using professional quality art products and mediums on stretched canvas. Finished off with acrylic varnish to seal and protect. Some of the things I learnt while creating it was my lovf of realism and colour influences. My favourite part is that I thought I had used a lot of white tones and yet the piece conveys colour and freshness…I hope you enjoy it too!

I created it with acrylic paint and collage torn up papers and by working around the coloured paper, I painted in the bird.

Some of the things that I learnt while creating it were that the mixed media was sometimes hard to work over and include in the painting so that it looked as though it belonged.

My other favourite part is the seriousness of the crow interplaying with the colourful leaves of the mixed media and the texture of the background.

If I could change something about it, it would be probably be the paper collage. I would ensure next time that it was smoother and more harmonious with the canvas although in the case of this painting I felt it worked out well enough.

One of the most challenging ways is to slow down enough to relax our heart and feel what is nearest. It could be the sun reflecting off of broken glass in an alley. It could be the shine on a crow. It could be snow on a lamp post.’
